Finance Manager / Business Partner 

Up to £50K depending on experience

Aristar Financial Consulting is a Guildford-based bespoke accounting and finance business providing outsource finance services to a portfolio of recruitment consultancy clients whose turnover is in excess of £120M.

We are seeking a qualified Finance Manager / Business Partner to join our busy Management Accounts team.

Stereotypical accountants need not apply! We’re looking for someone with the discipline that comes from a practice background, but who finds or found practice stifling. The Finance Manager will take responsibility for a portfolio of clients and will ensure that other team members deliver to their targets thus enabling the production of monthly Board Packs, regular Cash Flows and ad hoc reports as required. This role will suit someone who wants to build strong client relationships, enjoys taking the time to develop trust and confidence and who helps bring the numbers to life for our clients. Ideally you will be someone who wants to work in a fast-paced, delivery focused company where your hard work is valued and rewarded.

The right candidate will be a fully qualified Management Accountantwith at least 3-5 years’ experience, but someone looking for something more of a challenge with more responsibility for client management and service fulfilment. Reporting to the Head of Finance and Business Services, you will deputise in their absence, providing senior level support and advice to the team where appropriate. Therefore, you will already have experience supporting a team wither in a line management or mentoring/coaching capacity. You will have exceptional communication skills and be able to work to tight deadlines in your support and management of our growing portfolio of clients.

Main responsibilities:

  • Produce monthly management reports (Profit & Loss and Balance sheet) to the Directors of your client portfolio, to ensure they have a solid understanding of their business performance.

  • Provide accurate and informative monthly board packs (with commentary) to the Directors so they understand the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of their business.

  • Manage the submission of client monthly payrolls and pension information to external providers ensuring an accurate and timely payroll service to clients.

  • Prepare and communicate rolling cash flow forecasts for all clients within the portfolio, so the Directors can understand their current and forecasted cash position, enabling key investment decisions to be made.

  • Maintain clean and accurate monthly balance sheet reconciliations to ensure a smooth and informed year-end process with the external statutory accountants.

  • Hold Monthly Client meetings within your client portfolio to maintain relationships and provide business partner support, creating a value-add service and excellent client satisfaction.

  • Ensure all client HMRC deadlines are met for clients in order to ensure client accounts are compliant with HMRC regulations

  • Ensure reporting for all Invoice Finance facilities is completed in a timely manner

  • Prepare the preparation of quarterly VAT returns and HMRC Onshore Intermediaries reporting

  • Act as a coach to the wider team providing day to day Senior level Management Accounts expertise and knowledge

What you need in order to be considered for the role:

  • The successful applicant will be fully qualified ACA / CIMA / ACCA

  • Strong commercial finance experience gained either within a large company environment or a fast growth, SME environment.

  • Advanced Excel Skills essential including look- ups, pivot tables and use of advanced formulae with knowledge of Xero being desirable.

  • Previous experience working with outsourced Management Accounts for multiple companies would be an advantage.

  • You will have excellent communication skills and experience liaising with senior stakeholders.

  • Experience of delivering exceptional customer service whilst always looking for incremental gains.

  • Highly reactive, but with the ability to foresee problems and issues and create solutions in advance.

  • An enthusiastic & pro-active attitude.

  • The ability to build strong lasting relationships with clients and partners.

  • High attention to detail.

  • Able to work under pressure

Salary range of up to £50K per annum depending on experience, 25 days' holiday (increasing by 1 day per full year of service, up to 30 days per annum) weekly bootcamp classes, pension scheme, childcare vouchers, monthly contribution to a charity of your choice. We are based in central Guildford within walking distance of both train stations. Our standard working hours are 9am to 5.30pm.
